Adiabatic Charge Transport and the Kubo Formula for Landau Type Hamiltonians

چکیده

We study the adiabatic charge transport in a two dimensional Landau model perturbed by a bounded potential at zero temperature. It is proved that if the Fermi level falls in a spectral gap then in the adiabatic limit the accumulated excess Hall transport is correctly described by the linear response Kubo-Štreda formula. Corrections to the leading term are given in an asymptotic series for the Hall current in powers of the adiabatic parameter. The analysis is based on an expansion of Nenciu and a bound on the speed of propagation.

Adiabatic Charge Transport and the Kubo Formula for 2d Hall Conductance

We study adiabatic charge transport in a two dimensional lattice model of electron gas at zero temperature. It is proved that if the Fermi level falls in the localization regime then, for a slowly varied weak electric field, in the adiabatic limit the accumulated excess Hall transport is correctly described by the linear response Kubo-Štreda formula. Corrections to the leading term are given in...

Charge Deficiency, Charge Transport and Comparison of Dimensions

We study the relative index of two orthogonal infinite dimensional projections which, in the finite dimensional case, is the difference in their dimensions. We relate the relative index to the Fredholm index of appropriate operators, discuss its basic properties, and obtain various formulas for it. We apply the relative index to counting the change in the number of electrons below the Fermi ene...

Quantum pumping and dissipation in closed systems

Current can be pumped through a closed system by changing parameters (or fields) in time. Linear response theory (the Kubo formula) allows to analyze both the charge transport and the associated dissipation effect. We make a distinction between adiabatic and non-adiabatic regimes, and explain the subtle limit of an infinite system. As an example we discuss the following question: What is the am...

Anomalous Transport Coefficients from Kubo Formulas in Holography

In the presence of dense matter quantum anomalies give rise to two new transport phenomena. An anomalous current is generated either by an external magnetic field or through vortices in the fluid carrying the anomalous charge. The associated transport coefficients are the anomalous magnetic and vortical conductivities. Whereas a Kubo formula for the anomalous magnetic conductivity is well known...

Random matrix model of adiabatic quantum computing

We present an analysis of the quantum adiabatic algorithm for solving hard instances of 3-SAT san NPcomplete problemd in terms of random matrix theory sRMTd. We determine the global regularity of the spectral fluctuations of the instantaneous Hamiltonians encountered during the interpolation between the starting Hamiltonians and the ones whose ground states encode the solutions to the computati...
